Ecem Süt is an MSc candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Kocaeli University working in advanced engineering materials and surface technologies. She received her BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Sakarya University of Applied Sciences and completed an Erasmus+ traineeship at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her current work focuses on powder metallurgy, titanium-based composites, and mechanical surface treatments, with particular interest in microstructure, mechanical behaviour, and tribological performance.
Research Areas : Powder metallurgy, titanium matrix composites, functionally graded materials, shot peening
Core Work : Microstructural characterisation, hardness, roughness, wear testing, laboratory material production
Research Interests
- Advanced engineering materials and high-performance alloys
- Powder metallurgy, Ti matrix composites, and graded materials
- Surface engineering, shot peening, tribology, and wear
Current Thesis
Topic: Compositionally graded graphite- and niobium-reinforced Ti6Al4V composites produced by hot pressing.
The study examines how reinforcement design and processing conditions influence microstructure, hardness, and tribological behaviour in titanium-based composites.
Research Activities
She is involved in specimen preparation, optical microscopy, hardness testing, surface roughness measurements, shot peening, and wear testing, with emphasis on relating processing conditions to microstructural evolution and performance.
Laboratory Roles
- Research Student, Powder Metallurgy Laboratory
- Research Assistant, Surface Treatment Laboratory
